My Lords

We have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of a letter from M Hamilton of the 16th ult with a copy of a despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong, and of a report of survey held at the Colonial Treasury on the 4th January 1864, made out on the original Form used in that Colony.

Your Lordships request the Governor is right to state whether using the old Form instead of that forwarded in Report No. 257 of 10th July last.

We beg leave to state that the Form enclosed in our Report is the same Form prescribed by your Lordships' instructions of 1838/9 to Governors of Colonies respecting the custody of the Colonial Revenues, and was intended to be used on the occasion of all Surveys of the chest, whether quarterly or Special.
